Independent Underground Radio Network Pending New Site Debut – June 30, 2017

First, Hello Everyone! It’s been awhile since updates have occurred on our Independent Underground News & Talk and now newly named Independent Underground Radio Network site.

Why So?

Well, the reason is we have been working with a great web-designer Don from My1Solution.com (this is a plug for Don’s Services) to design a new, updated and user-friendly site to enjoy our Podcasts, Blog Posts, Information, News and more to ensure your subscriber experience at @IURadioNetwork is top-notch.

Let’s briefly talk about our name change, which we hope will be the last, maybe. However, before you read the rest, make sure to join our ever-growing Facebook Page!

Brief History Review of Independent Underground Radio Network

If you have been a long-term subscriber, follower, and friend of our website, you would know that we originally started out way back in 2010 as Reach Out Job Search or ROJS News.

At that point and time, both I, Monica RW and Autumn S. hosted our podcast, which was focused on Career Advice, Current Events, News and a bit then, of Politics.

As the show continued and grew, both Autumn and I came to the conclusion, we were talking more about Politics than really Career Advice information. Thus, we kept the name, “Reach Out Job Search” but, shorten it to ROJS Media and ROJS News.

However, a friend and mentor who shall remain nameless, basically informed us kindly our show name was downright awful. And they were right.

The show former name did not fit for anything close or near to a podcast whose core focus was the analysis of Politics – National, State and Local.

This is when Independent Underground Radio LIVE was born, specifically in 2012.

The show name fits like a glove to the information given former bi-weekly and now weekly program for Real, Raw and On-Point Commentary, News and Analysis of the National and State Politics Scene, from an Independent Point of view.

Then, Autumn moved on, for a bit, and I, Monica RW ran the podcast for four years as a single Executive Producer, Host and Content Creator.

Over 650 Episodes, 450 plus Guests, a News One “Best Political News Blog” Finalist in 2013, Serving as a Commentator on National Broadcast shows and more; 2017 became the year to kick now named Independent Underground Radio Network, to the 11th Level.

Cognitive Dissonance for Choice of Faith or None At All in the Democratic Party

Dealing with the Cognitive Dissonance for Choice of Faith or None
At All in the Democratic Party

Over the last 24 hours, Faith and who practices which one or none at all has come front and center as a topic as an aftermath of the Democratic National Committee Chair race.

The aftermath end result was a person of the Muslim Faith, Congressman Keith Ellison was denied in whole or in part a role of DNC Chair because he is a practicing Muslim.

An email by sent to members of the 437 voting bodies of the Democratic National Committee, according to TYT Investigative Reporter Nomiki Konst hours prior to the vote, alleged Ellison had “questionable” ties to other Muslim faith practicing members.

A part of the Op-Ed on the site NORPAC – Promoting US-Israel Relations Authored by Ben “Dr. Ben” Chouake MD states:

“Ellison has served in Congress since 2007, but his controversial actions preceded his term in office. During the 1990s, he served as a local spokesman in Minnesota for Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam movement. Ellison had publicly claimed in 1995 that Farrakhan “is not an anti-Semite.”

Although Ellison acknowledged to the local Jewish community during his run for Congress in 2006 that he had been “involved” with Minister Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam, he minimized his past role as a leader in the religious organization that was rife with overt anti-Semitism and hateful bigotry.”

For the purposes of this article, we desire to keenly focus on this sentence in part, “Ellison has served in Congress since 2007….“.

Circling back to the year 2007, it is now 2017 or upwards of ten years of service to the State of Minnesota, Ellison has given to the Democratic Party holding a position of Congressman within the U.S. Congress.

Noting such, it is more than a bit ironic during a time where the current Presidential Office holder known as “The Republican 45th” has issued Executive Order leveled Muslim Bans, a cognitive dissonance type of smear was launched at Democratic Party Congressman Keith Ellison.

Did the NORPAC – Promoting US-Israel Relations author or its Political Action Committee (PAC) not know of Ellison’s Muslim faith of choice before the Congressman’s decision to run for DNC Chair? Or did just not matter in the nine years prior to 2017?

The question is where a level of cognitive dissonance exist for faith-based churchgoers in the Democratic Party, and it likely to maintain just there, in light of Konst’s reporting.

To be frank, there are many faith-practicing Democrats in the Democratic Party, especially in the African-American community.

In fact, come election time it is normal for Candidates to visit churches or other houses or worship in the Baptist, Methodist (including African Methodist Episodical), Pentecostal and yes, Muslim faiths in order to introduce themselves to parishioners.

The writer of this Op-Ed was Born, Baptised, Raised and is Proud to be affiliated with the Pentecostal faith religion practice, Equally, she is accepting of others who may practice her personal faith of choice or practice no faith at all.

If the NORPAC – Promoting US-Israel RelationsOctober Surprise” type of letter was launched as a last minute smear attack against Congressman Ellison, the action itself would be deeply concerning. Such as action should never be conducted again – against anyone who is a part of the Democratic Party or by others claiming to be part of the party in the future again.

The action presents a bewildering level of cognitive dissonance for what is accepted as a religion of choice for Democrats. Is a person’s religion of choice dictated by a political party, or is it a personal decision – which is what it should always be.

Individuals, including DNC Members, have the right to vote for or against a person for any number of reasons. However, the vote should not be based solely or in part due to a religious faith of personal choice they choose to practice.

The Systematic Dismantling Of America’s Institutions Of Government Has Started

Photo Credit – The Huffington Post
The Systematic Dismantling America’s Institutions of Government is
taking place under Trump and Company.

Beginning to wrap one’s head around the breakneck pace of information which has happened in America the last four weeks under Trump. It appears a Systematic Dismantling of America’s Institutions of Government is taking place.

First, can anyone effectively keep up with the flurry of changes occurring in Washington, D.C. Everyday, there is a new story, article, point of panic, a concerning nominee for a cabinet office, resignation, new announcements, Tweets, “Breaking News”, and more resulting in a state of outright chaos in America.

Eventually, this amount of an unstable ship sinking on the high seas will seep down in the Capitols of States in the Union, County or Parrish Units of Government and municipal operations — if some forms of what’s occurring at the top of America’s Governmental pyramid have not already.

Trump and company are doing their best to create an unbalanced matrix where the chains of authority and governmental functions – all of them – are squarely centered in the hands of individuals in the White House, seeking to destroy what is left of modern day Democracy, held on by a string.

However, these actions have been transpiring for awhile, bit by bit as greed capitalism has become the mainstay since the 1980’s based “Reagan Years”.

Reductions in Defined Pension Benefits at Corporations into highly questionable 401K programs, “Two-Tier” wage systems, the shifting of healthcare co-pays and premiums into the paychecks of workers from the financial balance sheets of those same Corporations, “Right to Work” laws, to the destruction of Public Education — the last 25 years or so, have led to what is in the White House today.

Former President Obama tried to provide a “stop-gap” to some of the dismantlings of America institutional systems. However, even he could not stop the proliferation of Charter Schools directly threatening the “Public Schools For All” model with former Secretary of Education Arnie Duncan hire.

Although, President Obama did his best to restore systems after the economic disaster President George W. Bush placed on America, the bankruptcy of two or the “Big Three” manufacturers extended the “Two-Tier” payment system model for workers, added health care costs and mandated more employees join the 401K so-called retirement plan model.

Now Trump has no care for anyone who is not apart from his quasi “1% on steroids” group.

With such, Trump is more than willing to collude with dangerous “bad actors” such as Russia, soulless Republicans and Libertarians who claim to be “Bible-Believing Christians”– while really seeking to enrich their own portfolios no matter whom such actions may harm – including those foolish enough to fall hook, line, and sinker for their outright lies, and anyone showing a minor level of resistance to their actions.

All of the above does not equal that all Resistors become silent.

Instead, the Resistors should be fully aware historical institutions of Democracy designed to protect their Free Speech, Press and Right to Assemble are at severe peril. Governmental institutions that were/are intended to keep checks and balances between the Judicial, Executive and Legislature branches are now hanging together by a string.

State, county, parishes and municipal governments can only effectively operate long-term with revenue received from budgets planned and approved by the unchecked and unbalanced one-party governmental unit in Washington, D.C.

America’s institutions are co-depended on EACH other. If the main branch is in chaos, all if it is in chaos, even if the effects are felt later on.

The unsettling and downright disturbing results of America’s November 8, 2016, election results are just beginning to strain its ugly weave on America’s System of Democracy — and sadly, the end result will not be comforting in any way, at all.

The Systematic Dismantling of America’s Institutions of Government has now begun.

Two Flint Emergency Managers Charged In Toxic Water Crisis Under Snyder’s Authority

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder and his Flint Appointed Emergency
Managers from (L to R) Michael Brown, Ed Kurtz, Darnell Earley and
Jerry Ambrose.

Two of Flint, Michigan five Emergency Managers during the City’s Toxic Water Crisis from December 2011 to April 2015 have been criminally charged by State Attorney General Bill Schuette for roles in the on-going environmental disaster.

Former Flint Emergency Managers Darnell Earley and Jerry Ambrose faces charges ranging from operating under false pretenses, conspiracy to commit false pretenses, willful neglect of duty and misconduct in office.

Earley served as Emergency Manager of Flint from October 2013 to January 2015 and Ambrose from January 2015 to April 30, 2015.

Two other officials related to Flint’s Water Crisis, Howard Croft, former Department of Public Works director and Daughtery Johnson, former utility administrator for the city were charged operating under false pretenses and conspiracy to commit false pretenses.

Earley and Ambrose charges put into question two Michigan Public Acts, P.A. 436 of 2012 and P.A. 4 of 2011 known as the state’s Emergency Management Laws.

Public Act 4 of 2011
was signed into law by Michigan’s Governor Rick Snyder on March 3, 2011, under massive protest from state-based activists groups and civil rights organizations.

View Independent Underground News & Talk Exclusive February 2016 Documentary on the “Flint Water Crisis – Real Stories, Real People, Real Life” below:

The law allowed for an Emergency Manager appointed by Governor Snyder total control to overrule the local elected governmental unit on all matters; Financial, Operations, Structure or Complete Removal of the elected or appointed bodies of local government.

Michigan voters repealed Public Act 4 of 2011 on November 7, 2012, by a 52 to 48% vote.

Less than three weeks later, Michigan Republican-controlled State House and Senate passed an updated version of the Emergency Manager Act, Public Act 436 of 2012 and added an appropriation to the bill protecting it from a citizens referendum. The updated bill was signed into law by Governor Snyder on December 27, 2012.

The State’s Emergency Management Law authority was used to force Michigan’s largest city of Detroit, Michigan into the largest fiscal Chapter 11 Bankruptcy to date on July 18, 2013, under former Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr.

Emergency Managers from 2011-2016 were assigned by Governor Snyder’s administration to over 80% of Michigan’s high minority populated cities including Flint, Benton Harbor, Muskegon, Ecorse Pontiac, Hamtramck, Detroit and a large number public schools districts in the cities and across the state.

Flint Water Authority switched from Detroit Water and Sewer Department authority onto the Flint River following a one-year undetected water leak under former Emergency Manager Michael Brown, who was appointed by Governor Snyder from Dec 2011 to Aug 2012; and again from July 2013 to October 2013.

During the time Brown ordered a 25 percent hike in the water and sewer rates in an Emergency Manager budget-balancing plan that also included a 20 percent reduction in Flint city employees and their compensation, as the massive water leak remained undetected.

“We can’t solve this just by cutting expenses,” Flint’s Former Emergency Manager Michael Brown said on April 29, 2012, to MLive, the day after he presented the budget to the council. “What we’re creating here is a way to assess people for the actual cost.”

“We did not have time for a vote of the people,” he said.

At that time, the average customer’s total water and sewer bill was expected to go up to about $111. Using that figure, the average customer will now be paying about $139 a month in water and sewer fees under the latest increase.

Brown attributes the rising costs to aging infrastructure and the costs passed on from the city’s primary water source: the city of Detroit.

Flint’s second Emergency Manager assigned to the City by Governor Rick Snyder, Ed Kurtz, made the unilateral decision to switch the city’s water supply onto the Flint River on April 13, 2013.

Kurtz was Flint’s second Emergency Manager serving under the authority of Governor Rick Snyder from Aug 2012 to July 2013.

The decision was questioned due to Flint River having no known corrosion control measures to prevent deterioration of the City’s aging water infrastructure.

“The city of Flint is dumping its contract with the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department. Flint emergency manager Ed Kurtz signed a contract today to get the city’s water from a new pipeline that’s being built from Lake Huron to Genesee County,” said Michigan Radio April 16, 2013

Officials with Detroit’s system made a final offer to try and keep Flint’s business. But Kurtz says the numbers were “unreliable.”

Less than two months after mandating Flint switch immediately from Detroit’s Water and Sewer Department onto the Flint River, Emergency Manager Kurtz announced he was “resigning” from his job on May 30, 2016.

In September 2014, on the heels of another boiled water alert, the city tested positive for total coliform bacteria, The Environmental Protection Agency warned Flint and the city’s fourth Emergency Manager appointed by Governor Rick Snyder, Darnell Earley, the coliform could present be a pathway for pathogens and fecal contamination to enter a drinking water system.

“The city has issued a boil advisory for a portion of Flint, saying water in the area has tested positive for total coliform bacteria.,” said MLive on September 5, 2014.

The area of the advisory is bordered by Dayton Street on the north, DuPont Street on the east, the Flint River on the south, and by Lavelle Road to the Flint River on the west, the city said in a news released issued today, Sept. 5.

The latest advisory marks the second time in less than 30 days that residents and businesses in a part of the city have been told to boil or use bottled water for drinking, bathing, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says positive total coliform tests suggest there may be a pathway for pathogens and fecal contamination to enter a drinking water system.

“The absence of total coliforms in the distribution system minimizes the likelihood that fecal pathogens are present,” the agency Web site says. “Thus, total coliforms are used to determine the vulnerability of a system to fecal contamination.”

Despite this dire warning from the Environmental Protection Agency and General Motors declaring one month later in October 2014, it was switching back to the Detroit Water and Sewer Department supply due to Flint River water destroying the manufacturers car engine parts – Emergency Manager Darnell Earley refused to move Flint’s residents from what was well known to be a toxic water source.

Earley served as Flint’s fourth Emergency Manager assigned by Governor Snyder from October 2013 to January 2015 and was charged criminally for his role in Flint’s Toxic Water Crisis on December 20 by Michigan’s Attorney General, Bill Schuette.

Flint’s fifth and last Emergency Manager Jerry Ambrose served the shortest tenure from January 2015 to April 30, 2015. Ambrose similar to Earley refused to switch Flint’s residents back to the Detroit Water and Sewer Department system, citing a “business case” existed to keep citizens on a known toxic water resource.

“Ambrose overruled a city council vote in March 2015 to return to Detroit water,” said the Washington Post on January 25, 2016.

Ambrose called the council’s request “incomprehensible” and a waste of $12 million — even though there had already been chemical and bacterial problems with the river water, water quality had violated the Safe Drinking Water Act and the General Motors plant in Flint had stopped using the water because it was rusting car parts.”

Ambrose was able to “overrule” Flint City Council’s authority solely due to Michigan’s Emergency Management laws P.A. 436 of 2012 and P.A. 4 of 2011. Both laws were signed by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder.

The reason why Flint, Michigan dealt with a Toxic, Poisoned Water Crisis for nearly three years and counting, is directly due to the state’s Emergency Management Laws.

Proving not only “Emergency Management” is a failure of leadership but, equally should point questions demanding answers to the Leader signing the Public Acts into law, Governor Rick Snyder.

The allegations against Earley, Ambrose, Croft and Johnston makes thirteen the number of officials charged in their actions associated with Flint Water Crisis. Other officials include Stephen Busch, supervisor in the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality,  Liane Shekter-Smith, former chief of the Office of Drinking Water and Municipal Assistance; Michael Prysby, district engineer; Adam Rosenthal, a water quality analyst who worked for Shekter-Smith; and Patrick Cook, specialist for the department’s Community Drinking Water Unit.

Michigan Department of Health and Human Services employees charged by Schuette’s office are Nancy Peeler, director of the Program for maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting; and Robert Scott, data manager for the department’s Healthy Homes and Lead Prevention Program.

Mike Glasgow, Flint’s utilities director and former DHHS state epidemiologist Corinne Miller both charged, have agreed to plea deals in exchange for her cooperation in the investigation.

Since 2010, IU News & Talk has operated as one of the few African-American independently owned and operated political commentary, news, podcasting, and analysis –  in Michigan, resources.

IU News & Talk has always been best described as a labor of love focused on presenting the story from an activist point of view.

Our previous stories range from covering Michigan’s Emergency Manager Law, Michigan’s Tax Revenue Restructuring, the now defunct Educational Achievement Authority, Detroit’s Bankruptcy, the flight of Michigan’s and the Nation long-term Unemployed, Governor Rick Snyder’s Administration, the Flint Water Crisis and much more including National News & Politics.

However, decisions must be made whether to carry on this entity into another year or to be frank and honest: ending it at the conclusion of 2017.

For Independent Underground News & Talk to become a full-fledged alternative or independent news Organization, it will take financing. As noted with America’s most recent National Election, news and commentary organizations – and especially independent ones – will be under attack for fair and honest reporting.

A strong possibly exist – such smaller news and commentary operations similar to IU News & Talk could be subject to harassing legal actions for truth-telling designed end their business model.

The recent case of Gawker against Billionaire Peter Thiel (a Donald Trump Financer and Supporter) is just one case of example — as Gawker has now been shuttered financially.

Over the next two weeks, Independent Underground News & Talk will evaluate our future, however, it should be known that IU News & Talk is strongly leaning towards shutting down operations on January 3, 2017.

We will Broadcast our final Podcast of the year on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at 9 pm ET. Feel free to tune in, call in and share your thoughts about IU at 734-347-0185.

Michigan’s GOP Efforts To Stop Stein’s Recount Exposes State Voter Suppression

Independent Underground News & Talk - Photo Credit - PoliticsUSA

Keeping focus can be difficult to do in the current political recount teapot in Michigan.
Currently, there is a recount of all votes in the of Michigan taken on November 8, on behalf of Green Party Candidate Jill Stein’s Campaign.

Yet, thousands of votes might remain unrecounted in the State’s Largest City of Detroit, and Michigan Republicans are actively trying to stop the recount by lame-duck enacting a retroactive bill.

Cause and Effect. The words that can have many meanings.

In the case of Michigan’s Presidential Recount of the 2016 Election, the Cause was a question of how Democratic Party Hillary Clinton lost Michigan by the smallest margin in the State’s Presidential Election history, 10,704 votes.

The Effect is a recount request by Green Party Candidate Jill Stein which is actively taken place by a U.S. District Court Judge Order on December 5.

“A federal judge has ordered Michigan election officials to begin a massive hand recount of 4.8 million ballots cast in the presidential election at noon Monday,” according to The Detroit News.

U.S. District Judge Mark Goldsmith issued a ruling just after midnight Monday in favor of Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, who sought to let election officials bypass a two-business-day waiting period that would have delayed start of the recount until Wednesday morning.”

Another Effect would be finding out by the recount request upwards of thousands of ballots might not be available for recounting in the State’s Largest Democratic-leaning City of Detroit. This effect should be worrying for all desiring fair and just elections in Michigan.

According to the Detroit News, 392 of the City of Detroit’s 662 precincts are unavailable for recounted due to ballot numbers not matching poll book data.

“..In heavily Democratic Detroit, where the number of ballots in precinct poll books did not match those of voting machine printout reports in 59 percent of precincts, 392 of 662,” according to the Detroit News

According to state law, precincts whose poll books don’t match with ballots can’t be recounted. If that happens, original election results stand”.

A subsequent Effect should be called out by its name: Voter Suppression.

Voter Suppression occurs when a group of voters justly believe their votes will not matter, believe their votes will not be fairly counted or audited, and live an experience in which despite their votes – their daily lives on an average, are not improving. As in the case of Detroiters with over an 80% minority population, votes.

“Voting rights are under attack nationwide as states pass voter suppression laws. These laws lead to significant burdens for eligible voters trying to exercise their most fundamental constitutional right,” said the ACLU.

Since 2008, states across the country have passed measures to make it harder for Americans—particularly black people, the elderly, students, and people with disabilities—to exercise their fundamental right to cast a ballot.”

Voter Suppression also includes the highly questionable House Bill 6097, sponsored by West Michigan Lame Duck Republican, Lisa Posthumus Lyons.

House Bill 6097 seeks to enact a “Grandfathered” and “Retroactive” measure requiring Green Party Candidate Jill Stein to pay the estimated costs associated with the Presidential Election Recount in Michigan, after the recount began on December 5, 2016.

“HB 6097 would require candidates more than 5 percent of the vote behind the winner to pay the entire actual cost of a statewide recount, and it would be retroactive to the beginning of 2016. It would only apply to statewide and federal offices,” said MLive.

A recount of Michigan’s vote in the Nov. 8 presidential election began Monday. Stein, the Green Party’s presidential candidate, is paying a required fee of $973,250, but Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson has said the actual cost could be $2 million or more.

Michigan Republican Party officials believe the full cost could be much higher. Eric Doster, an attorney for the state party, said the cost could reach up to $12 million.”

However, at this point, it is an unknown entity what the actual or estimated costs of Stein’s recount would be.

Furthermore, it is known that thousands of ballots in the State’s Largest City of Detroit might be unavailable to be recounted at all.

That without Green Party Candidate Jill Stein request for a Recount of Michigan’s Presidential Election, it is highly doubtful the general public would have known about the on-going issues in 2009, 2013 and now 2016, with recounting votes in Detroit.

State Representative Jeff Irwin, a Democrat from Ann Arbor, Michigan questioned Republican Representative Posthumus Lyons inherent need to make House Bill 6097 “Retroactive”.

“Rep. Jeff Irwin, D-Ann Arbor, questioned making the proposed law retroactive, saying it was unfair “to change the rules in the middle of the game,” according to MLive.

He argued the current recount is serving as an important “audit” of the process that could uncover fraud as well as “simple incompetence” by election officials.

“Sometimes when we do these recounts, we find irregularities that are worth looking into,” Irwin said.

Discovering irregularities is likely scratching the surface on what pose to be an issue with any chance of Democrats actively competing with Michigan Governor’s race in 2018, with any candidate — as well as ensuring all votes are fairly counted in Democratic-Leaning Detroit.

Which turns back to the issue of Voter Suppression. An issue that all Michiganders believing in the Right to Vote should be Unfettered, should stand strongly for.
