According to the Detroit News, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his running mate, Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI) will hold a campaign rally this afternoon Friday, August 24th in Oakland County, at a cider mill barn location in Commerce Township.
Both Romney and Ryan are scheduled to address attendees around noon at Long Family Orchard, Farm and Cider Mill in Commerce Township.
About 100 early attendees around 9:30 AM people turned out early in hopes to see the pair at the cider mill along with law enforcement personnel from Oakland County Sheriff’s Department and federal Secret Service providing pre-security to the area with metal detectors and dogs.
The visit will mark Rep. Ryan’s first event in Michigan since being named Vice-Presidential candidate, seeking the GOP nomination at the Republican Convention starting in Tampa, FL Monday, August 27th. Former Massachusetts Gov. Romney has ties to the state, as his Father George Romney was Governor of Michigan during the 1960’s.
