(DETROIT) – On the heels of the arrest of Foss Avenue Baptist Church Pastor Dr. Reginald Flynn, D. Alexander Bullock and Rainbow PUSH Michigan will stand with the citizens of Flint at Noon on Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Flint City Hall.
“Emergency managers don’t work and Public Act 4 is bad public policy. It is undemocratic and the height of tyranny. The arrest of Pastor Flynn demonstrates that the rights to vote, assemble and speak freely are under attack in Michigan.
Governor Snyder’s administration should not restrict liberty like the segregationist of the old south in the name of financial stability; rather, elected officials should strengthen democratic institutions and develop a plan for economic recovery. The ballot and building are the keys to stabilizing the State of Michigan,” said D. Alexander Bullock.
Flynn was arrested Thursday inside the Flint City Hall while protesting actions imposed upon the city by Flint Emergency Manager Michael Brown. Brown signed a total of 12 executive orders on Wednesday, April 25, the night before the Michigan Board of Canvassers vote that further dismantled democracy for Michigan voters. The Flint City Hall is located at 1101 S. Saginaw St., Flint, Mich. 48502.
