firm targeting Occupy Movements on 11.19
In the heels of Occupy Together protest nationwide, a Washington, D.C. based lobbying firm has prepared a memorandum offering advice to its Wall Street clients to help them manage any political fallout the movement.

Specifically the communication addressed a warning that Republicans publicly may turn on big banks, and in private support them. It is one of the initial clear signs that the movement is working in its’ efforts to create trouble for the wealthy elite.

The memorandum addressed the need to target Democratic officials who in whole or part, support the economic message of the 99% demanding fairness between working class Americans and the wealthiest 1% in this nation.

Officials targeted include Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Democratic Candidate for Massachusetts Senate Elizabeth Warren, Senator Tom Udall (D-NM), Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Wisconsin’s open Senate Seat with the retirement of Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI) and Democratic officials in Washington, D.C. up for re-election.

The memo, reported this morning on MSNBC’s Chris Hayes commentator and host of the show “Up with Chris Hayes written by the firm Clark, Lytle, Geduldig, Cranford and addressed to one of its Wall Street’s American Banking Association. It runs four pages long and was set to be forwarded prior to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

One of the firms partners Jay Cranford, worked directly until Speaker of the House John Boehner until this year as his “Assistant of Public Policy”, as the firm website notes.

“Jay Cranford brings more than 15 years of government and public policy experience to serving the interests the firm’s clients. Immediately prior to joining Clark Lytle Geduldig & Cranford, Cranford served as an Assistant for Policy to Rep. John Boehner of Ohio, Speaker of the House of Representatives. Cranford joined the Boehner Leadership team in 2006 when Speaker Boehner was elected Majority Leader.”

In first two graphs of the detailed memo, the firm outlines anixety over the idea that the 99% movement could mean “more than just short-term discomfort for Wall Street firms” and, has “the potential to have very long-lasting political, policy and financial impacts on the companies in the center of the bullseye.”
The entire memorandum will be published on the “Up with Chris Hayes” MSNBC website, after 9AM this morning.
